Snowflake Fire Department

The Snowflake Fire Department covers an area of approximately 450 square miles.  Mutual aid agreements exist with the Taylor Fire Department, which enables both communities to share resources in the event of structural fires.

The Department consists of 25 volunteer firefighters, with a maximum capacity of 35. Five Emergency Medical Technicians provide their support, with Paramedics provided by a joint ambulance service.  The Department places a great importance on training, and together with a program through Northland Pioneer College, the Fire fighters undergo 24 hours of HAZMAT training (the department is equipped for HAZMAT First Response), and trains to the IFSTA 4^th Edition (the national standard) toward the internationally recognized firefighter 1 and 2 Certifications.
