Snowflake Temple

Only the 108th temple worldwide, and the 51st in the Continental United States, the temple serves nearly 35,000 Latter-day Saints (LDS, or Mormon) living in northeastern Arizona and neighboring New Mexico. The 17,500 square foot temple stands on a six acre site overlooking the town to the south and surrounded by the Snowflake community golf course. Special features of the temple include:

• A water feature outside the entrance, cascading over a natural-rock ledge into a pool
• Antique art-glass panel depicting Jesus Christ with children
• Decorative American Indian patterns painted on ceilings throughout the temple
• Original paintings depicting landscapes in Arizona
• Reproduction of a painting depicting early Latter-day Saint missionary Jacob Hamblin with Hopi Chief Tuba
• Large original murals of landscapes
• Some custom-built furniture with early pioneer designs
• Navajo rugs and American Indian pottery

The temple is located at 1875 West Canyon Drive in Snowflake, (accessible by heading westbound on State Route 277 approximately 2 miles to Temple Drive.)

Snowflake Historic Homes

Over 100 historical buildings, most restored to their original condition, can be seen in this walking tour. Eight of the homes offer historical exhibits which can be toured Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, closed Sunday and Mondays. 45 of the homes are placed on the National Registrar of Historic Places. The homes feature the diverse architecture of the original pioneers who carved out their homes in the Snowflake Valley in the latter part of the 19th century. Spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, and quilting demonstrations are also available to invite visitor participation, as well as a horse drawn wagon for groups by appointment.  Many of the homes have been carefully restored and manicured by residents and the Snowflake Heritage Foundation. Snowflake Community Golf Course

The Town of Snowflake's community golf course consists of an 18-hole course, and a 9-hole course. Lush greens, the shade of cottonwood trees, and the sound of waterfalls make for a relaxing yet challenging round. Built on land donated by developers, the course is a community asset, and as such rates are kept extremely competitive to allow access to the course by all of the general public. Tournaments, clinics, and individual lessons from the Town's on-site golf pro are available. Stinson Pioneer Museum

Operated by the Snowflake-Taylor Chamber of Commerce, the museum houses artifacts and pictures from the early days of Snowflake, from prehistoric Indians to 19th century pioneers. Included on display is the loom used by Lucy Hannah Flake to weave cloth and rag rugs. Two rooms have been restored to depict the living conditions of the early pioneer families.
